For the month of March in light of International Women's Day, hOM has been showcasing amazing women in all the industries hOM interacts with. Real Estate. Yoga & Wellness. Tech. Check out our Instagram account for more features.

On March 8th, International Women's Day, hOM was able to be a part of the HERoic Conference presented by CRE Tech. We'd love to share a few highlights!
Tackling the Invisible Barriers
An amazing set of five women on March 8th dove in to discuss this powerful topic.

With today’s gender exclusion still prominent in work environments it’s putting women in a challenging position.

The discussion gave us all an in-depth look on how these top commercial real estate tech executives overcome diversity challenges, the role of not trying to fit in and be your own voice.

It was beautiful, it was real, it was professional yet light-hearted.

The celebrations started bright an early over at Bryant Park WeWork. CRE Tech presented a lovely complimentary breakfast while everyone arrived and mingled.

As we settled into our seat Lilli guided everyone through a refreshing morning meditation to set the tone for the entire event.

Brenda & Lilli then followed up with an introduction to hOM’s Community Management Platform.

Of course we couldn’t leave out that hOM’s co-founder and CEO, Fran Loftus, is a women, wife, mother (aka #momboss) and our amazing startup is run by 77% full-time employed women.

The panelist included:

Moderator Lindsay Fierro, Senior Vice President, NAI Global
Emily Line, Vice President, Commercial Services, Realtors Property Resource, LLC
Poonam Mathis, Founder, StealthForce

Fran Loftus, CEO & Co-Founder, hOM
Caren Maio, CEO and Co-Founder, Nestio

Keynote: Sarah Spain, Columnist Reporter and Radio Host, ESPN From "One Of The Guys" to Proudly Female

A few of our favorite highlights and quotable moments:

  • Lilli’s guided meditation - you can find a similar meditation led by Lilli here
  • Lindsey, Emily, Pooman, Fran and Caren all agreed that keeping a curious mind and being in the seat of a learner is one of the pillars of success
  • “Lead from a space of empathy” - Caren
  • “Every new stage of our lives we’re thrust into may put us in a state of discomfort in order to develop the skills needed for the next phase” - Pooman
  • Lastly, Sarah Spain’s keynote speech on paving a new way in a sports male-dominated industry was so powerful and productive! Sarah Spain, is an ESPN radio host, writer and TV personality.  We so wish it was recorded and we could continue to watch it for inspiration!
  • Sarah spoke from her direct experiences as a woman in a predominantly male industry, discussing the unfortunate truths that must be acknowledged by industry novices and the necessary pivot required once one has achieved a particular voice and agency. Sarah is leading this movement movement through small steps and not just words. Her beautiful story details from “one of the guys” to proudly becoming a HERoic and paving the way for other women.
It was an incredible experience to share the space with so many wonderful and empowered women in Commercial Real Estate as well as other industries. We can't wait for next year!
