Cities of the Future6/13/2018 It has been a busy time for all things PropTech since the start of the year! The advantage of tech is ubiquitous in everything. Developers, investors, and landlords are seeing the trend as well. Ryan Freed, Co-founder and CRO of hOM, was recently on the RICS PropTech Panel in Toronto. Continue to read for an insider look on the discussion and what the Cities of the Future looks like. The PropTech panel at The Cities of The Future was an interesting one as it was a standout topic from the rest of the conference. Much of the panel was discussing trends in PropTech and how solutions will change the real estate and property landscape. One particular insight that I believe drove the conversations was the shift to a consumer-driven approach to property management. Consumers are looking for convenience and transparency in every aspect of their lives. We're seeing this with the countless on-demand services and technologies being launched. Each panelist discussed how consumer trends are driving their particular industry. We explored how providing data to landlords on their consumers such as who are their tenants, will inevitably make their jobs easier and be able to attract and retain top-tier tenants. If we look at hOM's industry, amenities are everywhere. We can all order our car, food, laundry, and so much more directly to our door. This is now driving the trend of wanting wellness and "friends" right at your doorstep as well. By providing wellness classes and events we're listening to and maneuvering with the consumer trend of on-demand convenience. While providing these services community is essentially created for tenants to conveniently meet people in the buildings they work and live. It’s providing a sense of having friends right at your door as well. What are your thoughts on consumer-driven property management?
