Relieve Your Hands

Typing and texting all day? Here are five stretches you can do at your desk for your hands:

  1. Release tension in your wrists:
    • Bring the heels of your hands together and roll your wrists in one direction for several rotations, reverse the rotation.
  2. Stretch the insides of your hands and fingers:
    • Interlace your fingers and extend your arms in front of you with palms facing away from your body.
  3. Massage the finger muscles:
    • Gently tug on each finger, massaging from the base knuckle up to the finger tip with the thumb and fore finger of the opposite hand. Complete for all ten fingers.
  4. Stretch the top of the wrists:
    • Place the backs of the hands on your desk, fingers pointing towards you. Press down through the back of your hands to feel the stretch.
  5. Relieve stress throughout the body:
    • Place your right pointer finger and thumb around the muscular tissue of your left hand (in between the pointer finger and thumb of your left hand) and squeeze. In so doing, you are releasing stress from pressure points in your hand. This is something you can come back to at any point during the day, meeting, commute, etc.
Enjoy!
